
T500VA Balanced Mains Control
A quieter mains reference for a more composed audio system.
The T500VA balanced mains control unit is designed to reduce unwanted electrical, mechanical and radio-frequency influence before it reaches the components in a high-performance audio system.
At its centre is a custom-wound, centre-tapped toroidal transformer, supported by Quiescent QPower absorption, DC blocking, high-speed shunt filtering, and a mechanically isolated output architecture, housed inside a 28 kg machined chassis.
Four balanced outputs support source components and low-power electronics; two direct outputs serve higher-demand components. The aim is not to soften the system, but to give each component a quieter reference and more stable conditions from which to perform.

Balanced mains control should not make a system feel restrained. A high-performance audio system still needs freedom to draw current as the music becomes more demanding.
The T500VA works by reducing the unwanted energy that rides with and around that supply. Balanced operation helps reduce common-mode disturbance, while Quiescent absorption gives residual high-frequency energy and mechanically coupled vibration controlled paths away from the components they would otherwise disturb.
The result should not be a new character. It should be less interference with the character already present in the recording and the system.
T500VA Balanced Mains Control Technology
Modern systems are surrounded by switch-mode supplies, routers, chargers, lighting, computers and household appliances. The audio system itself can also generate and circulate interference through power supplies, grounding paths, cables and reactive loudspeaker loads.
Balanced mains is a strong foundation, but it is not the whole answer. A centre-tapped transformer improves isolation and symmetry, yet very high-frequency energy can still move through parasitic paths and connected chassis or grounding structures.

Quiescent treats the input path, transformer, grounding arrangement, output architecture and mechanical structure as a single environment. Before the mains reaches the transformer primary, it passes through an adapted Peak Mains module with DC blocking, followed by dedicated live absorption that gives high-frequency hash a controlled route away before it reaches the windings.
The internal wiring follows the same EMI/RFI absorption approach used in Quiescent mains cables. The ground run passes through its own dedicated modules, while the live in-phase and anti-phase paths run through a separate absorption module, helping each part of the supply environment remain controlled before and after the balanced stage.

Absorption around the transformer
A balanced toroidal transformer can reduce important forms of mains-borne disturbance, especially where common-mode noise would otherwise be converted inside connected components. But a transformer is also a physical object with windings, capacitance, leakage paths and mechanical behaviour.
The T500VA is designed around that reality. Quiescent absorption is applied around the input path, transformer environment, and output architecture, directing high-frequency electrical energy and vibration to controlled locations rather than allowing it to circulate through the mains loom, chassis, or protective-earth structure.
Mechanical and RFI coupling to the transformer is achieved through the fixing bolt using the Quiescent QPower transformer coupler. This gives energy generated or carried by the transformer a deliberate path into the absorption system, rather than allowing it to pass through the chassis unchecked.
This is the distinction between simple balanced power and Quiescent balanced mains control: isolation and symmetry are retained, but the residual energy that remains around the transformer is also addressed.
Balanced and direct outputs, separately isolated
Audio separates exist for a reason. Source components, preamplifiers, DACs and phono stages handle delicate information, while power amplifiers and active electronics may place larger current demands on the supply.
The T500VA respects that difference. Four balanced PowerCON outputs provide a centre-tapped supply for source components and lower-power electronics, retaining the full 230-240 V differential supply while improving symmetry relative to protective earth.
Two direct PowerCON outputs provide 230-240 V AC for amplifiers or higher-current components where unrestricted current delivery is the priority.
The balanced and direct sections are mounted on isolated rear-panel sub-plates and treated through Quiescent absorption architecture. This helps reduce the opportunity for vibration and high-frequency energy from one connected component, or from the transformer itself, to move into another part of the system.
A quiet mechanical reference
The 28 kg machined chassis is part of the T500VA’s noise-control system, not simply an enclosure. It provides the transformer, output sockets, absorption modules, and rear-panel architecture with a stable mechanical reference.
Mechanical energy can be transmitted through mains cables, sockets, chassis plates, and equipment supports. The T500VA provides controlled energy pathways into absorption structures, helping reduce the vibration that would otherwise propagate through the electrical supply.
This mechanical treatment supports the same aim as the electrical design: a more stable environment around the connected components, without imposing an obvious tonal signature.
